Self Extracting Files

(Any of the files shown here with the extension "exe" are self extracting files that have had their extension changed to "zip". If you have a plugin that extracts zipped files, they will be processed in that manner. Otherwise, when prompted to "Save As", change the extension of the File name from "zip" to "exe". You will then be able to run the self-extracting file.)

95fix.exe	This patch is for older Windows CDRom libraries that stop installing around 90% in Windows 95. To install: download the file to a temporary directory. If you are prompted to "Save As", change the File name from "95fix.zip" to "95fix.exe" (See note above). Run "95fix.exe", and then run "setup.exe" from that directory. This patch is about 1.02 MB. You can also download "95fix.zip" here.
iiiweb.ini	This file will update the Web Launcher in the Family History Suite. To install: download the file to your "c:\windows" directory. You will be asked if you would like to replace the existing file, say "Yes" to update your Web Launcher. This file is less than 1 kB.
iiiweb97.ini	This file will update the Web Launcher in the Collectors Library 97. To install: download the file to your "c:\windows" directory. You will be asked if you would like to replace the existing file, say "Yes" to update your Web Launcher. This file is less than 1 kB.
Journals.dw1 Journals.dw2	These files will fix a "Fatal Exception Error" in the Deluxe Journal Keeper in the Family History Suite (you will need to try each file on your computer separately). To install, do the following: download one of the files to your c:\ldsfhs directory (or the directory you installed the Family History Suite to). When you are prompted to "Save As" rename the File name to journals.dll. You should be prompted that a file by that name already exists -- overwrite the old file. If the first file does not fix the problem, repeat with the second. These files are about 90 kB. (note--these files are named *.zip but they are not zipped files, they have this extension only so that will download properly, they need to be renamed!)
Krnlupd.exe	Kernal Update for Windows 95. This file will take care of a memory leak that occurs in Windows 95 (This file was created by MicroSoft.). To install, download the file to a temporary directory. Once the file is downloaded, run "krnlupd.exe". This file is for trouble in Ancestral Quest. This file is about 330 kB.
Vshare.386	This is necessary for running our windows libraries--most computers will have it, but a few are missing it. To install: download the file to your c:\windows\system directory. Add the line device=vshare.386 to your system.ini file under the heading [386 Enh]. This file is about 15 kB.
Vuefix.exe	This file will update the Image Viewer in the Collectors Library 97 or Family History Suite (this is only necessary if the computer asks for a serial number). To install: download the file to your c:\ldscl97 directory (c:\ldsfhs if this problem is with the Family History Suite) (or the directory you installed our CDRom to). Once downloaded, run vuefix.exe (Note -- this file must be in the same directory as the Collectors Library 97 or Family History Suite in order to work.) This file is about 27 kB.
